Bicycle Outfitters Donation

Bicycle Donation Coordinator
Volunteer Position

Community Cycles of California is a nonprofit bicycle shop with a focus on employment training and community bicycle programs.

Donated bicycles are how we exist… The revenue we earn by selling bikes pays for the bike programs we provide at no cost in the community.

The Bicycle Donation Coordinator is a new volunteer position designed to establish a sustainable bike donation program. You will be the lifeblood of a fast-paced, community-driven organization, and your work will directly impact the success of our retail shop and our community programs.

We are a small team who all wear a lot of hats. This means you will have autonomy and freedom to develop a stellar program and make enormous impact.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Develop and help implement strategies to increase donations. We’re looking for an ongoing, reliable stream of bikes to help meet our quota.

  • Acquire new bike donors and bike donations

  • Organize and attend bike drives (or help us recruit volunteers who can attend)

  • Provide donation receipts and record into database

Here are some skills you’ll be bringing:

  • Bike expertise. Just kidding! You don’t need to know anything about bikes except how many can fit in our trailers.

  • Self-motivation, competency and attention to details, but also thinking outside the box and creativity

  • Sociable. You’ll be working with people. Hopefully, lots of them!

  • If you can lift up to 50 pounds, fantastic. Moving bikes is a part of this gig. No can do? That’s ok, help us recruit volunteers for events.

  • We’re really hoping you can drive a stick shift

Here’s what you get:

  • Flexibility to create something awesome for the community

  • Be part of a hardworking, but fun-loving team of volunteers, staff, and employment students

  • And snacks. We have snacks!

Here’s what the schedule looks like:

  • We’re looking for a one-year commitment to help get this program off the ground and tweak things that need to be tweaked

  • Since this is a new position, we guess 5 hours per week plus bike drive events

  • After training with us in the shop, continue to hang out with us or work your magic from home. Whichever suits you best.

Not a match for you? Not to worry, we have other volunteer gigs to check out.
