Bicycle Store Manager

We are a small organization on a fast track to growth seeking a Bicycle Store Manager to open a new storefront location in Summer 2024. This is a new position, and you will have the opportunity to work with CCofCA leadership to develop as an organization with outstanding product and customer service.

You’ll have supervisory experience but will be willing to roll up your sleeves while we get the shop open, and then work on the sales floor while we grow the team. You’ll lead the store’s day-to-day operations and work with executive staff on plans for future success. You will set the standard for amazing customer experiences, exceptional employee (including program trainees, interns and volunteers) performance, and exceeding budgeted sales. You will also be supporting the Service Department and our Community Bike programs. 
 

Responsibilities: Location Launch
Collaborate with executive team on the design and implementation of the new retail location launch. This can include: 

  • Marketing plans, designs and events

  • Preparing the site: acquisition of permits, paint, fixtures, signage, etc. 

  • Overseeing relocations process 

 

Responsibilities: Sales & Leadership

  • Collaborate with executive team to develop and implement retail, marketing and customer service strategies to meet target revenue as well as production and impact goals

  • Actively work the sales floor, leading by example to demonstrate world-class customer service and achieve sales goals

  • Maintain budget and accurate financial reports, including proper scheduling, payroll budgets, and floor coverage

  • Conduct meetings to review prior weeks’ performances and plan for future weeks

  • Define and promote a clear vision and strategy that communicates expectations of friendly, professional environment while empowering employees, trainees and volunteers

  • Develop a highly effective team through training, coaching, reviews and feedback opportunities who meet and exceed store goals, customer service expectations and adhere to company policies

Responsibilities: Store Merchandising & Online Sales

  • Ensure store maintains excellent visual presentation and welcoming environment\

  • Manage inventory process, including receiving, ordering, and organizing of both ordered and donated items

  • Identify value and suitability of donated items such as used bicycles, parts, components and accessories to be offered for resale via in-store and online platform

  • Oversee operations for our online sales platforms, includes photographing, pricing and listing items, and communicating with customers

  • Manage and organize online sales area. Includes packing, shipping and coordinating with service department.

  • Represent CCofCA as a leader in the community we work in, be a positive ambassador when talking to partners, donors and volunteers, and be the best representation of our mission

  • Continuously improve our interactions, products and services for our customers and clients and contribute positively to their experiences

  • Ability to understand priorities and the sense of urgency of the business, adjusting directions or scheduling when necessary to meet organizational needs and the demands of the business

  • Learn, understand, teach and adhere to all organizational policies, standards and programs

  • Work with executive and nonprofit staff to craft and support all organizational programs

  • Participate in inter-departmental training and cooperation, including support of other departments when needed, and offer input and feedback in meetings

  • Skilled in conflict resolution, problem solving and possess strong decision-making skills

  • Maintain a clean work area and work with colleagues in maintaining clean shop in general, including restroom and lounge areas

Skills and Attributes:

  • A strong desire to give back to your community and a love for bicycles

  • 3+ years of successful retail experience. Previous bike shop experience preferred.

  • 1+ years leadership or supervisory experience

  • Experience riding a bicycle is a must 

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Strong time management skills

  • Self-motivation, confidence, empathy, and passion for the work!

  • Collaborative and effective communicator with colleagues, staff, clients, trainees and volunteers

  • Moving, lifting and carrying bikes will be necessary, so must be able to lift 30lbs.

  • Comfortable and confident using computer-based Point of Sale, eCom, Office or Google Docs

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range $50,000 - $60,000 

  • 25% employee discount on all products

  • Hours: This is a full-time position. Working hours will include early evenings and weekends. The hours will generally be within Tuesday through Sunday, 9am to 7pm.
